Superorder: Dinosauria

Iguanodon is a genus of ornithopod dinosaur (clade Ornithischia). It was named by geologist Gideon Mantell in 1825 due to the construction of its teeth, which is also characteristic for iguanas. Fossilised Iguanodon remains have been found in North America, Europe, and Asia. Currently, this genus includes one species: Iguanodon bernissartensis, which is the most known Iguanodon. Researchers are constantly analysing dinosaur fossils that belong to this genus, but none of it is officially referred to as a separate species. It fed on vegetation at heights from ground level up to 4–5 metres. Its diet consisted mainly of field horsetail, Cycadales, and conifers.
